Discuss the concerns that motivated Gadamer in Truth and Method to radically depart from the earlier traditions in the field of hermeneutics, and instead to explore the problem of understanding from the perspective of practical philosophy.
- Gadamer is concerned not with the understanding of works of art and texts per se. It appear this way, since he dedicates the first chapter of T&M to the interpretation of art, and the second chapter to the history of the field of philosophical hermeneutics.
